Vice Commodore's Update - 5 May 2014

Published 08:49 on 6 May 2014

Hello Everyone.

There has been a fair turn out for racing over the last couple of weeks, however it could be much better,

I counted 11/12 Merlins (give or take) on the lower hard last Sunday…wrapped in canvas. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get them all on the start line this weekend?

Osprey has been sailing and now Wings too. Lady Jane is in the water and the shed is a hive of activity so let’s wait and see.

The Easter pursuit race was great fun with 1 Rater, 3 Merlins and a GP14… The debate in the clubhouse beforehand regarding the Portsmouth Yardstick was just as epic!

Tuesday night sailing is a real tonic in the sunshine and George’s delicious suppers really makes for a good evening so please come down and join in.

The results are up to date and have been published on the website and the word on the water is that Chris M is sailing very well!

The training course ran last weekend and this weekend and was very well attended with great feedback from the students so congratulations to everyone who played a part in that!

The Minima long distance race took place yesterday with enviable wind… Thames turned out the most boats with Osprey, Chris M, Saul S, Nick H and Stefan at the helm so well done. We seem to be starting a trend as we had the best turn out at the Tamesis Open too.

For all our younger members and lone rangers please come down for fleet racing Sunday and Tuesdays in Toppers and Picos, it will be great to see you there.

Finally just a general prod to ask all to confirm your duties for race box etc.

Thank you and see you on the water tomorrow.
