150th Pursuit Race 2026

Published 00:28 on 21 Jun 2026

This coming week sees our most special Tuesday race: the 150th Pursuit, with a trophy donated to celebrate the club's 150th year. The superb trophy, a lovely wooden half model of one of the club's original racing yachts, will be presented on the night.

It's open to all members in all classes, but it does mean start times are different to normal.

The idea behind a pursuit race is that, if boats of different classes are sailed by crews of equal ability, then starting them at different times according to their Portsmouth Number should see them all cross the finishing line together.

This means on Tuesday night boats will start at different times depending on their class, Toppers at 1830 and Raters at 1915 with other classes somewhere in-between. The race will finish at 2000 on the dot with the Race Officer on the water to mark position of the boats: this will be their finishing result!

The details of the race can be found in the documents below, but the key thing is making sure you're there to start on time!
