Brilliant Boats - Friday After School Programme

For all our younger members

Brilliant Boats for this summer is taking shape. This is an opportunity from 4pm on a Friday evening after school for youngsters to be introduced to sailing and the club environment. Please let me know by May 26th if you would like you and your child to join in so that we can accommodate you. Don't worry if you miss the deadline, we will squeeze you in numbers depending.

Brilliant Boats will take place on the following Fridays:

Friday 6th June

Friday 13 June

Friday 20 June

Friday 27June

Friday 04 July

Friday 11 July

If children and parents want to continue after this then we can, but this is our preliminary 6 week starting point.

Children will be organised into 2 groups, younger (from 4 years) and older (up to 8). This can be flexible so please ask if you are not sure.

The format:

The younger group will be involved with crafts and games etc. in the club house to learn about buoyancy, wind and water as well as rides in Cora (our power boat) if they want to.

The older group we thought could expand on Swallows and Amazons and hunt for buried treasure in Toppers etc.

There will be a Pirates flag hoisted in the car park as well as a Pirates boat that will play a part Sounds wacky but it will be great for the kids.

Brilliant Boats will be loosely following the RYA syllabus with weekly achievements to meet and awards presented by the Commodore. Each attendee will have their own agenda and stickers and ribbons for reaching goals.

A 'piratey' tea will be served at 5pm for £2

Safety boats will be on hand and life jackets will be compulsory.

Every mum/dad etc. is responsible for their own child and will be required to supervise throughout.

This should be great a boost for fun Fridays that follows on straight afterwards too and will encourage a great turnout
