Dear members,
We are now fully into the season, attendance on Tuesday evenings is strong but attendance on Sundays continues to be a worry so please do come down and enjoy the summer. The China Bowl weekend (23rd and 24th July) is coming up in a couple of weeks (notice of race to follow). On the Saturday evening after sailing there is the Summer Barbeque which is open to all club members please book your place early so as to avoid disappointment (email Sylvie to book a place). It would be great if you could bring your family and friends and take advantage of the club and have a really good party. There is no formality to the party but the more the merrier with the opportunity to get some music. I am most keen for younger members to make the most of the venue.
Our membership whilst stable is still too low, I am open to suggestions to incentivise introducing new members to the club such as if a member introduces and secures 2 new members in a single year they will receive a full member for free the following year. But please tell me what you think will work. If we all introduced one new member (please note we need full sailing members) we would double the membership, so please bring a friend down to the sailing club over the summer.
The Sailing Committee has been looking at starting times on Sunday and is proposing bringing them forward to 10:00 so that it is possible to complete 2 races and have the afternoon for other activity. I would welcome your thoughts on this proposal.
The safety of members within the sail shed is of continuous concern, I would like to re-iterate that members enter the sail shed at their own risk and we will ask all those that use or wish to go in the sail shed to sign a document that they understand and do so at their own risk. We would also like to point out that the shed is out of bounds to junior members.
Please note that the club will be closed on the 31st July due to Ride London.
