Thames Sailing Club
The Vintage Regatta is the Thames Sailing Club’s premier annual sailing event. The Thames Sailing Club established in 1887 is the oldest river racing club in the country. The club is steeped in sailing history; we still use the original Victorian clubhouse and it is the home of the mighty Thames A Raters. They will be sailing in their own class but expect to see all of the 8 currently restored wooden raters sailing, many of which are 100 years old. We hope to be able to offer visiting competitors a ride on a rater during course of the weekend.
On the Saturday evening we will be holding our summer party to which we warmly welcome all regatta competitors. This usually features a lavish spread and live music.
On the Sunday we will once again be promoting the regatta as a spectator event that offers the opportunity to see up close a range of classic dinghies racing hard. Providing we can find volunteer commentators, we will again provide live commentary on the Sunday and we will also have a 'form' sheet that spectators can print off that tells them a little about each boat type. Anyone interested in attended to spectate only can find details of the best viewing positions and a copy of last's years 'form' sheet (we don't know what will be racing this year yet) here>>
