Thames Sailing ClubHave Boat, Will Travel!
This year a major focus for the development of the club is around increasing visiting attendance to our open meets. We want to spread the word amongst the dinghy sailing community that the TSC is a significant club and one to recommend and one way to do that is to have well attended events that generate a ‘buzz’.
An important way to encourage attendance is through reciprocation.
We would therefore encourage all small boat sailors to consider participating in other events. If you are planning to attend any opens at any other clubs please let the PR team at TSC know so we can furnish you with posters for our events to put up at other clubs.
Specifically we also want to support the following 2 series as our 2 open events for this year are being counted as rounds within those series:-
The Merlin Vintage Series http://www.merlinrocket.co.uk
Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Association (CVRDA) series www.cvrda.org
For both programs there are local events that should be easy to attend.
Ahead of the China Bowl and Merlin Open at the TSC there’s Minima on the 7th of June and Ranelagh (Putney) on the 14th June. Ian and Susie are planning to campaign the Merlin Vintage Series as much as they can so speak to them if you want to join forces on any events.
CVRDA events ahead of the Vintage regatta include Frensham (Nr. Guildford) on July 12th and 13th and Netley, the CVRDA nationals, July 18th to 20th. Ben (Hon PR Sec) and Nicole plan to attend both of these events in their Albacore and would welcome the company of other older boats.
Everyone in the club has a part to play in the promotion of the club. If you can contribute by promoting our events at other clubs that’s great. If you can help in other ways (being related to the editor of Time Out, having contacts for potential event sponsors, owning a printing firm etc.) we would also really like to hear from you!
Ben (Hon PR Sec)
