Thames Sailing ClubWhile some of the club were sunning themselves in preparation for the BVI Spring Regatta Kevin and Nick Fribbens were competing for the club's honour in the Serpentine Cup! They were braving high winds and evil gusts while trying to sheppard our fellow team members, Nick Hoskins and Chris Martin round the course.
They won our first glassware of the season and beat Minima by virtue of some sailing and them not turning up to do any sailing! The efforts against the rest of the teams were no quite so impressive. Kevin and Nick were left behind at the start in the first race, tactically naive in the second race, one of the TSC boats capsized in the third race and then again before the start of the final race. One crew member was aboard and the other one holding it up right, sorry, that's not right; he didn't hold it up right! The boat drifted away with the helmsman in the water, swiftly followed by the not holding it up right crew leaping in to his assistance! Did I say we were unimpressive, I think not now! Cameras were flashing all about us.
That boat and crew was recovered and they then had to right the second boat which had been left unattended. At this stage they retired to the bar, by way of the hot showers!
