Trees on the Middlesex Bank: Urgent Announcement

We are delighted to confirm that Alastair MacDonald, acting on behalf of TSC, has successfully arranged for Hampton Court Palace gardening staff to undertake a major tree pruning and riverbank clearance exercise this coming Monday 23rd November 2009.

In consultation with Alastair, palace staff have agreed to clear as much vegetation from the Middlesex riverbank as they can within a day between the upstream end of Raven's Ait and Thames Ditton Marina.

To help ensure that TSC aspirations are met, the palace staff need club members to help gather and carry cut foliage to a chipping machine. Working with Vice Commodore Ian Pratt, Alastair has started to recruit a team of volunteers for this excercise but more people are needed.

If you are able to help, please contact Alastair or Ian and please be at the Club on Monday from 08:15. Sturdy footwear and suitable (weatherproof) clothing should be worn and gardening gloves would probably be of use. 'Cora' will be used to ferry helpers to and from the Middlesex side of the river throughout the day.

This is a rare opportunity to improve sailing conditions at TSC.

Please get involved and spare whatever time you can. Thanks in anticipation.
