Call for Crew/Helms wanted/available: Mailing List
This is targetted at all members but particularly new or novice members or members regularly short of crew. We are really keen not only to get more boats out racing or just sailing on Tuesday evening and on Sundays, but also to help new members or less experienced members get out on the water and hone their skills by getting the opportunity to sail with more experienced members. We envisage that these arrangements could be very ad hoc even made on a week-by-week basis so even if you are only looking for a sail or a crew on a very occasional basis, this could be the facility for you!
We have set up a Thames Sailing Club Yahoo Group explicitly to develop a mailing list for members needing or available for crewing or helming. Why a mailing list rather than the full membership; as this will be of no interest to many and we don’t want to increase email traffic unnecessarily.
You will need to register with Yahoo in order to subscribe; however you can elect to use your regular email addresses to receive notices. I have restricted membership to the group - basically I have to approve all applications. Once you are approved simply send an email to the address below with your request for crew and hey presto.
Couple of rules I would like to establish:
1) No, none, absolutely no spam emails at all, any member sending spam will be removed from the list
2) If you have items for sale please do not use this list; send them to me I will advertise on the club site
3) No profanity at all will be tolerated and if so the member will be immediately removed from the list.
4) Remember the list is for crew/helm requests only. I will removed any posts that are not related to this topic. If it becomes apparent that members would like other mailing lists I will consider this at a later date.
