Annual Work Party - November 11th and 12th

The work party is arranged for Saturday and will continue on Sunday. This is our main opportunity to smarten the club up to create a presentable face to the world and a comfortable environment for the members. This is one of the few events in the year that members are expected to attend.

Tony Western is organising the Saturday stuff :-

Activities will include: -

  • Dealing with lots of shrubs and other small trees.
  • Washing down the ceiling in the club room and hanging up the old rater booms.
  • Burning all old wood, redundant wooden masts, foliage etc.
  • Cora out and into the sail shed
  • identify and sort all the old sails and dispose of the really old ones.
  • Plus loads of other jobs!

Matt Tester is booked to alter the Rater Mast rack so that we can get the Optimists underneath and have level rails for the masts.

Stuart Gurney will be at the club on Sunday and anticipates doing a spag bol and garlic bread lunch.

Susie Scotcher will provide lunch on Saturday.

Important: Can you let Tony Weston know on 01932 245503 if you are going to turn up on either or both days. It’s important that we know numbers in advance for catering purposes. Food will be based on who let’s us know – if you don’t forewarn us, expect to provide your own lunch!

Bring old clothes, tools etc.

thanks

Stuart

Rater AGM - November 19th

The Rater Association AGM is taking place at 3pm on Sunday 19th. It will be preceded by an open buffet of chilli con carne and rice at 13;00 (prepared by the PR department).

Sunday Soup

Happily, we can confirm that we have found an excuse to serve lunch in the clubhouse every Sunday since 24th September. This is a new venture, returning to older traditions, when you can be guaranteed at least one hot meal through the cold long winter weekends. To this end, we will continue to provide, at the very modest price of £1, an open buffet of soup every Sunday. Do drop into our kitchen if you fancy something hot!

Stop Press!

This is the very last call for contributions/ announcements or photographs to Grapevine as it's going to the printer next Monday. Anything to include please send to Negla at mail@gypsy3.freeserve.co.uk.
