Thames Sailing ClubFor the benefit of all newcomers to the club here’s a few details about the Bourne End Regatta. This takes place at the UTSC just upstream from Maidenhead. The TSC has long historical ties to the UTSC and it is the only other club where Raters are homed in quantity and raced regularly in their natural habitat.
The Regatta takes place over the second bank holiday in May with racing for various dinghy classes on the Saturday through to the Tuesday and for Raters only through to Wednesday when the headlining Queens Cup is contested.
The TSC basically ups sticks and moves en masse to Bourne End for the weekend. It’s a great opportunity not only to take part in competitive racing on a lovely stretch of water but also to get to know other members from both clubs as there are social events each evening and camping facilities available within staggering distance of the clubhouse. The camping area is colloquially referred to as Sin City – better not to ask why!
