New Year's Eve 2007

New Year's EveDoes any one know the words?

31st December 2007 saw the return of the TSC New Years Eve Party. The event was hugely enjoyable and well attended by a lively mix of new and old members and their friends. Not surprisingly and in true TSC style, the drink flowed and there was much merry making.

Early in the evening the organisers were honoured to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Kingston and his Mum who had called-in to seek directions to a party nearby. Complimentary drinks were dispensed along with the directions and political relations with the Borough were greatly strengthened.

After a short cheese and chilli laden interlude around nine o’clock, the first group of girls discovered the dance floor and the party really started to get going. Then a series of classic ‘floor fillers’ including The Proclaimers’ ‘500 miles’ brought the boys onto the dance floor in droves.

By midnight the party had gained full momentum and as Big Ben’s midnight chimes rang-out over the airwaves, upwards of fifty revellers had crammed into the dining area for hugs, kisses, hand shakes and Auld Langsyne.Strike a Pose!

From around one o’clock and after an epic ‘American Pie’ moment (you had to see it to believe it), numbers began to dwindle as the revellers began to depart. However, after allegedly falling under the spell of the mystical barroom clock (again), a group of around 15 party people managed to keep the celebrations going until around four thirty.

Reliable sources have confirmed that New Years Day was something of an uphill struggle for these night owls. However, nearly all of them managed to make it back to the Clubhouse for the midday clear-up which as it turned-out Tony Western had kick-started; thank you Tony.

Needless to say, the event was a great success and is something the organisers hope to repeat in future years.

Special thanks to Mel for coordinating the event and thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening so enjoyable.
